Practice Description
Many of the clients I’ve worked with feel overwhelmed by their emotions. On the outside they are able to be successful through a lot of hard work, but inside they feel like they’re barely holding it together. They’ve spent a long time silencing what they really think and feel inside because they’re afraid they’ll be rejected if they share their full selves with others. They feel alone, and afraid to commit to big life changes like a new job or a new relationship because they feel like they’re not good enough to succeed and get what they want. For a long time, it’s felt easier to keep things as they are and keep doing what others expect of them.
Together we can explore and change the underlying patterns that are keeping you stuck. Through counselling you can build confidence managing emotions, setting boundaries and having more of what you want in relationships. You can accept and even like who you are and have the confidence to make changes in your life that bring satisfaction at work, connection and closeness in relationships, and trust yourself to get through the hard things.
I use an integrative trauma-informed, intersectional, and sex positive approach, and I work flexibly from several approaches, including Emotion-Focused Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
