8-Point Counsellor Standard
We help people in Vancouver find experienced local counsellors. When we select counsellors to be part of our network, we look at the way they describe themselves and their practices. We are guided by our 8-Point Counsellor Standard. We seek counsellors who:
- have at least 5 years post-graduate experience
- hold a graduate degree (MA, MEd, PhD)
- have professional designations recognized BC-wide (see below)
- demonstrate a strong ability to communicate their approach to clinical work and rationale
- demonstrate a commitment to being versatile and adaptable in their clinical work
- demonstrate an appreciation of integrity and authenticity
- have experience helping with the kinds of problems clients commonly face
- demonstrate a belief in the importance of practicing in a way that is open-minded, nonjudgmental, respectful, and appreciating of diversity
